O’Connor has enjoyed very limited success in World Snooker events this season, although he did pull off a good 5-2 win over world number 28 Ben Woollaston in the China Open Qualifiers.

If world number 18 Davis comes through that match, he will face 79th-ranked Oliver Lines or 111th-ranked Ian Glover in round two of the qualifiers on Sunday and Monday.

The winner of that match will advance to the third and final round of the qualifiers on Tuesday and Wednesday when a place alongside the world’s top 16 players at The Crucible in Sheffield later this month will be up for grabs.

Davis, who has reached the quarter-finals of three separate tournaments in recent weeks, has been a regular at The Crucible in recent years, albeit without ever going beyond the second round.
