Daina hits heights in busy summer

Trampoline starlet Daina Rose is entitled to have a spring in her step after enjoying a summer of sporting success.

The Hastings youngster’s achievements have seen her selected for the Great Britain team to compete against Germany in a youth team match at Taunton from September 2-4. She has been named in the four-girl under-15 contingent by British Gymnastics.

The call-up comes after Daina finished second in her category at the International Frivolten Cup in Herrljunga, Sweden.

Competing in the TRI u13-14 girls, the Helenswood School pupil was involved in a tough group which included a strong contingent from Russia.

After two rounds and two personal best scores, Daina was lying second going into the finals, and another outstanding routine saw her secure a glorious silver medal. Russia’s Liliya Klimova claimed gold, and her compatriots also finished third, fourth and fifth.

Daina was later presented with a special award for International Achievement at the British Gymnastics (South East) annual awards evening. Her sporting achievements have been recognised with another gong from Arrow FM.

There has been no let up in her busy schedule because she then finished runner-up in the FIG B u15 age group at the British Trampoline Championships Final in Birmingham. She was also a member of the winning South team against the Midlands in Bath.
