Crushing defeat ends double hopes

HASTINGS Priory's hopes of a league and cup double were dashed on Monday when they were hammered by 10-wickets at the hands of Horsham in a one-sided Gray Nicolls Sussex Cup Final.

The result was never in much doubt as Priory, missing four first team regulars, were dismissed for 90 in 35 overs with wides being their top scorer on 20. The damage was done by Mark Nash (2-13), Chris Baker (2-16), Luke Marshall (3-33) and Chris Nash (2-21).

England under-19 player Andrew Hodd (34 not out) and man of the match Chris Nash (51 not out) saw Horsham to 95-0 from just 12 overs.

Horsham have now won the cup in four of the last five seasons.
