Cricketers out in force

Seaford Cricket Club are taking part in the Nat West Cricket Force, the largest cricket club volunteer event in England and Wales.

On Saturday Seaford hope to carry out much-needed repairs and refurbishment work to the clubhouse in order to enable the club to continue to provide cricket to the local community and maintain their development of the grassroots game.

As part of the day two players from Sussex County Cricket Club will be attending the club accompanied by the County Championship Trophy. At 9.30am ex-England international James Kirtley will arrive to lend moral support to the hard workers, and at 3.30pm Richard Montgomerie will show off the Sussex Cricket Club championship-winning trophy.

Cricket Force will also be visiting Chiddingly, Lewes and Laughton.

The Horsham Festival of Cricket will take place from July 13-16 and will host Sussex's LV Championship match against Durham, which was originally planned to take place at Hove.

Horsham-based manufacturing firm EMCEL Filters Ltd will be the festival's commercial sponsor.
