The left-arm paceman damaged an Achilles playing for his university in Cambridge at the start of the week.

Priory coach Ian Gillespie said: “Apparently it’s very swollen and the physio won’t look at it until Thursday (yesterday) when the swelling’s gone down.

“We’re just hoping and praying it’s not a serious injury because if it is he could be out for months rather than weeks.

“We definitely need his pace and aggression. He was a critical wicket-taker last season in the promotion run and started really well on Saturday (with four wickets against Worthing).

“He’s got a great strike rate and he’s very much the centrepiece of our bowling attack.”
