Sidley beaten in basement battle

SIDLEY’S recent revival came to a halt with a 50-run defeat in the battle of the bottom two in Sussex Cricket Division Two.

The result leaves basement boys Sidley 26 points adrift of Ifield - the team in the final position of safety - going into the final three weekends of the season.

Haywards Heath were all out for 199 after opting to take first knock. Top scorer was acting skipper Callum Smith who made 77 as Scott Woodroffe took 3-27 and Pete King 3-55.

The visitors were all out for 149 despite the efforts of Paul Swannell (37) and Chris Hunnisett (24 not out). The damage was done by Fynn Hudson-Prentice (4-29) and Rizvan Vahora (3-19).
