Park ace Brookes in seventh heaven

CROWHURST Park have opened up a 30-point lead in Division Three (East) of the Sussex Cricket League.

They stretched their advantage over their title rivals on the back of a comfortable eight-wicket win at home to Hellingly.

Park won the toss and elected to bowl at Telham. The visitors were soon in trouble at 38-3 before Scott Pearce (59) and Paul McDonald (28) put on 49 for the fourth wicket.

Hellingly inched their way to 133-5 before an amazing collapse saw the last five wickets tumble for the addition of no runs.

Paul Brookes bowled unchanged to return superb bowling figures of 7-40 off 21 overs, while skipper Paul Lindfield finished with 2-1.

In reply, Dale Bryant (51 off 36 balls), Martin Barry (32), Ed Smissen (37 not out) and Bradley Payne (16 not out) saw Park to 137-2.
