In March the club were running pre-season indoor nets with a record 150 girls, boys, women and men honing their skills ready for the new season. Then Covid-19 stopped them in their tracks and the season’s plans were put on hold.

They continued to keep the Stanley Turner Ground in good order which allowed everyone to take in some air and do some vital exercise when lockdown conditions allowed. But still no cricket.

In May, the Government and then the ECB laid out some stringent conditions for training to return. After numerous Zoom calls and head scratching, Lewes Priory were able to run pilot sessions to test how they could scale up these training sessions.

Now, a few weeks on, they are running training sessions for more 100 members each week, including one-to-one coaching for the juniors.

During 2019 and 2020, they raised funds to replace their astroturf pitch. This caters for up to 50 games a season, usually supporting the juniors and friendly Sunday side The Ruins.

They reached their funding target in March and after a brief delay they were glad to see it installed and ready to play last week. A big thank you went to all those who helped them reach the target. Now let play begin.
