Park lost by seven wickets in a Sussex Cricket League Division Two match which is officially classified as abandoned as it was played to T20 rules. Worthing take 16 points and Park 10 - the same amount they would have been awarded if there was no play at all.

The visitors elected to bat on winning the toss and proceeded to score 111-6 from their allocation. Dale Payne top-scored with 46 at the top of the order and, remarkably, was the first of three batsmen to be dismissed on Park’s final total, run out by Luke Vinter.

Payne shared an opening partnership of 39 with Bradley Payne (13), who was also run out, and a second wicket stand of 32 with Kellen Powell (15). Pete Beaumont made a handy 19 at number five until falling to Vinter, who returned good figures of 2-16 from four overs.

Worthing, who were relegated from the Premier Division last summer, then reached their target for the loss of just three wickets with five balls to spare thanks largely to an unbeaten 60 from opener Matthew Green.

Green put on 55 for the first wicket with Andy Reid (18), who fell to Pete Beaumont (1-17 off four). Cameron Flanagan (1-14 off four) also picked up a wicket and Park’s other success was a Bradley Payne run out.

Standings (all played three matches): 1 Middleton 88pts, 2 St James’s Montefiore 70, 3 Billingshurst 54, 4 Ifield 54, 5 Worthing 54, 6 Findon 45, 7 Lindfield 38, 8 CROWHURST PARK 27, 9 Chichester Priory Park 25, 10 Goring-By-Sea 15.
