Blitzed Battle all out for 21

BATTLE were dismissed for just 21 in a dramatic East Sussex Cricket Division Two derby against local rivals Robertsbridge at George Meadow.

The home side only had nine players but still would have fancied their chances of chasing down Bridge’s total of 58 all out.

Ben Newman did the damage with the ball for Battle by returning bowling figures of 7-41. He was backed up by Mike Gedye (1-13) and Jo Carthew (2-4).

The only resistance came from James Pexton (14) and Phillip Green (12 not out).

In reply, not one Battle batsman reached double figures as Alex Collins (4-10), Nick Whiteman (2-10) and

Alfie Lloyd-Dyke (1-0) brought the match to an early conclusion in little more than 30 overs.

In the same division, leaders Rye maintained their promotion bid with a seven wicket win at home to Chiddingly, while Iden moved up to second in Division One on the back of a four wicket defeat of Ringmer.
