Bexhill have won three Sussex Premier League matches so far, and will complete the first half of their campaign with a trip to East Grinstead today (Saturday) before hosting Eastbourne next weekend.

Cox said: “You would like to think we can get to halfway with four wins. To win one of the next two would be great and you’d think we would go into into the second half of the season in a pretty healthy position.”

Last weekend’s victory at home to Cuckfield has left Bexhill sixth in the 10-team division, although the bottom six clubs are covered by just 35 points.

“It’s so tight,” continued Cox. “Roffey, (Preston) Nomads and Grinstead are out top, and then the rest of it you can throw a blanket over all the teams.

“We’ve got Grinstead this week and that’s going to be a tough game. They’re a solid side, but it’s not anything we should fear and we’ll play positive cricket.”

Callum Guest is available again and Bexhill expect to field a very similar side to last weekend. They’ll again wait on the availability of Sussex professional Ashar Zaidi.
