Bexhill draw despite Harriott hundred

BEXHILL remain up against it in their fight against the drop in the Sussex Premier League despite having the better of a draw away to fourth-placed Roffey.

The second-from-bottom visitors picked up a useful 14 points but results elsewhere meant they were cast further adrift of safety.

Bexhill declared on 275-7 with Aussie wicketkeeper Andrew Harriott dominating the innings with a superb 147 off 163 balls. His knock included 21 fours and three sixes.

Support came from Jack Richardson (31), Tim Hambridge (27) and Callum Guest (21).

Roffey started well in reply but in the end were forced to hang on at 223-8 with 71 from Josh Fleming and 42 from Theo Rivers. The pick of the Bexhill bowlers was 17-year-old off-spinner Guest who took 5-55.

Worthing had been only 10 points clear of Bexhill going into Saturday but victory at home to Brighton & Hove has provided them with a bit more breathing space.

The team now in the final position of safety are Chichester Priory Park who sit 24 points clear of the relegation zone going into the final three weekends.
