Ariana scoops Sussex award
An up-and-coming cricketer from Bexhill has won a coveted award for her exploits at county level.
Ariana Dowse scooped the under-13 players’ player of the season accolade at the Sussex Women’s Cricket Association annual presentation evening.
Receiving the prize in the Boundary Rooms at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground Hove ended a good season for Ariana.
Not content with that, she then attended county trials and has been selected to be part of the under-15 squad for the 2014/2015 season.
Ariana is a wicketkeeper who opens the batting for the county. She plays her school cricket for Bede’s Senior School in Upper Dicker, and club cricket for Hastings Priory’s ladies’ first XI and under-14 boys’ team.
Ariana trains with Tim van Noort at Skillz Cricket Academy, as well as with Roger Newman and Adam Maharaj-Newman at Horntye Park with Hastings Priory.
Skillz Cricket Academy is based at a purpose-built cricket development facility at Chilley Farm near Pevensey. It has a high quality net lane which incorporates a number of coaching systems to develop players’ technical and tactical skills.
The academy’s director is Tim van Noort, a former Hastings Priory, Sussex second XI and South Africa indoor player, while Bexhill Cricket Club spinner Jamie Bristow-Diamond is head coach and development manager.
A lot of players who have attended the academy have gone on to play for their school, county and even country.
