The St Leonards cueman fashioned another magical 147 in the final frame of his 3-2 victory over John Higgins in the Championship League winners’ group this afternoon (Thursday).

It comes just a few weeks after Davis fashioned the first maximum of his career to defeat Neil Robertson in the final of Championship League group three, to qualify for the winners’ group, also at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

The break gave 44-year-old Davis his third win out of five in the seven-man winners’ group and a victory against Ryan Day in his final round-robin match will guarantee him a place in the semi-finals this evening.

His other wins were a 3-0 victory over Anthony McGill and a come-from-behind 3-1 success against David Gilbert, and his two defeats were by a 3-1 margin against in-form pair Judd Trump and Barry Hawkins.

After the Championship League is wrapped up tonight, world number 31 Davis will head south for the Gibraltar Open. His first round match against Mark Joyce is scheduled for Saturday morning.
