Beth drives to victory

OF ALL sporting fairy-tales, surely there are very few that can compare to the staggering story of Catsfield's Beth Allsopp.

In 1992 Beth suffered a serious brain injury after falling from her horse.

The accident left her unable to walk but her friends and family fought hard for funding to send her to a special head injury unit where she learnt to walk again and to look after herself.

Even though she cannot walk far and her balance is easily upset, Beth has managed to recover to the extent that she competes in disabled driving classes.

Not content with merely taking part once again, in itself a remarkable feat, she actually won the Open Ambulant Disabled Driving Class at the Windsor British Driving Society Show on June 20.

And not only that, but the crowning glory from a momentous day came when Beth was invited to drive past Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.

Beth, part of the Kipling Carriage Driving Group, said: "It's not every day you get to drive past the Queen and Prince Philip."
