Belcher resecues cup hopes

HASTINGS United reserves progressed into the third round of the Hastings Intermediate Cup on Saturday with a hard-earned 3-1 win away to Little Common.

There was no score at the break thanks to a fine penalty save by Greg Nessling, playing his first game since recovering from an attack in the street a couple of weeks ago, but the East Sussex Leaguers went ahead through Mark Freeman soon after the restart.

It looked as though that would be enough to clinch victory until Charlie Belcher popped up with an equaliser deep into added time.

The first period of extra time was goalless but Steve Sands and Danny Ellis found the target during the final 15 minutes.

United visit St Leonards Social in the next round on December 11.
