The Sedlescombe-based player firstly helped England to a comfortable victory over Scotland in the annual battle for the McCoig Trophy.

It was her fifth win out of five in the McCoig Trophy, which is contested by players in the over-40, over-45, over-50, over-55 and over-60 age groups.

Further success followed at the Lancashire Masters Silver Tournament where Bargh and Kay Vickers captured the over-45 women’s doubles.

After a straight-forward first match, Bargh and Vickers made sure of the title by defeating Betty Blair and Debbie Miller. It was the third time in three matches that they had got the better of the European silver medallists.

Bargh, a professional badminton coach at Freedom Leisure Summerfields, has entered the Buckinghamshire Bronze Tournament on April 6 as a warm-up for the All-England Championships from April 18-21. The 51-year-old is hoping to be selected for the World Championships in Ankara, Turkey, during September.
