The trophy is for the Isthmian (Ryman) League team whose performance has been the most impressive throughout the season.

Rooks assistant boss Billy Nixon said: 'This is the first time a Sussex team has won the trophy and it's first time any team of our status has won it.

'It's usually given to premier division teams, but we carried the Isthmian name the best last season, it's a fantastic achievement.'

Jimmy Quinn was also presented with the Manager of the Season award for Division Two and the second division championship trophy was officially presented to the Rooks boss.

The club was also presented with 4,000 in prize money and a silver commemorative plate to mark the club's achivements, which included in reaching the FA Cup first round proper.
