5K race ready for the off

Event two in the 2012 Bexhill Runners & Triathletes 5K Race Series will take place this evening (Wednesday).

The race will get under way from outside Bexhill Sailing Club at 7pm with registration opening at 5.30pm. On-the-day entries are £10 for adults and £3 for children. All finishers will receive a medal.

The host club hopes to attract 200-plus runners of all ages and abilities in the adult race, and up to 100 in the three children’s races (500m, 1K and 2K) for those aged 14 and under which start at 6.30pm.

The course for the adult run heads east along the promenade for 1.25K before turning and returning down to the start/finish area, where the runners then turn again to head out for the final lap.

The event is particularly significant for Bexhill Runners & Triathletes, who have decided to name the annual June 5K after their friend and club member Alex Hall who sadly died earlier this year.

The race will be called the Alex Hall Memorial 5K and all the club’s proceeds from the race will be donated to the Alex Hall Memorial Fund, which will be used to help promote and support athletes (particularly young athletes) in the Bexhill area.
