What a ‘downright unpleasant diatribe’

I AM responding to the last week’s letter entitled ‘Who’s looking forward to the next six weeks’.

Well, my goodness, what a thoroughly miserable, crusty, and downright unpleasant diatribe. And who would not try to make way for mums with buggies?

Anyway, I personally like the bustle of kids and families enjoying their summer holiday. What does rather get my goat at this time of year however is the fact that, no sooner have the schools broken up, the adverts for ‘back to school’ appear in the shops and on the box. It made me cross at age six and it still does some 50 years later.

Enjoy your summer holiday kids and forget about school for six precious weeks.
