We would like to apologise to Mr Wood (Letters of September 11) if he is out of pocket through applying to us at Citizens Advice 1066 for a volunteer role, or has been deterred from doing so because of the cost of the telephone call.
As an independent charity, we were offered free online advertising for volunteers by the journal, which we were grateful for. This was then extended by the journal into their printed version.
We must state categorically that we do not receive any monies at all from these calls: these are taken entirely by the journal concerned.
We would also like to thank Mr Wood for bringing this to our attention.
We have now changed the online phone number to a local one (01424 721458).
Nevertheless, the journal may continue to publish our advertisement in their printed version and this may still contain a premium number.
If so, we will reconsider our recruitment policy.
All our ads contain an email address: recruitment @citizensadvice1066.co.uk, as indeed was the case with the advertisements that Mr Wood spotted. We certainly agree with him about alternative, cheaper means of applying for job opportunities, which is why we always include our email address.
