Your report (Observer 25/9/15) on housing development plans for Hastings in the next few years is evidence that Labour councillors (all 24 of them) who voted in favour of the development management plan (DMP) at a council meeting on September 23 do not care about the consequences for The Ridge area.
They do not care that, with the opening of the BHLR road, there will be even worse traffic congestion along The Ridge than there already is.
They do not care about worsening air quality that will go with more traffic there; they do not care about the loss of publicly-owned green space (e.g.Harrow Lane Playing Fields); they do not care about further pressures on the provision of public services eg primary school places in the area, and so on.
Maybe a lot of people will remember this come election time.
