May I, through your pages, thank the people of Hastings for turning out in such inclement weather to support Hastings Jack in the Green once again.
Although the sun eventually shone at the very end, we were astonished but pleased at how many people were prepared to stand on a misty West Hill!
It was wonderful to be able to dance on the newly-opened pier, where we have enjoyed so many years’ dancing and music.
Our heartfelt thanks go to our partners, who include Hastings Borough Bonfire Society for marshalling us, St Mary in the Castle, St Mary Star of the Sea, the Parish of St Clement & All Saints, St John Ambulance, Sussex Police; all the Morris, drumming and performance sides who come down to help put on such spectacle, and of course, Kevin Boorman, leisure manager of Hastings Borough Council, without whose support few of these events would go so smoothly.
