I AM writing on behalf of the Vulcan to the Sky Trust to express our sincere thanks for the welcome that was given to Vulcan XH558 by the people of Hastings on Saturday, June 15 when the town turned out in force to see this iconic aircraft.
Walking around the town and the beach before the Vulcan’s arrival it was very evident that there was great excitement and a sense of anticipation in place and I would also like to thank the people for the very warm welcome that was extended to us on our first visit to the town.
I hope that the Vulcan provided great entertainment and a stirring display for the huge crowds, which in difficult windy conditions was a great testament to the Vulcan aircrew - Kev Rumens, Martin Withers and Phil Davies - who, as always, were determined to put on a good display and show the aircraft off to good effect.
Many thanks also to the generous sponsors Priory Meadows Shopping Centre and Osborne Energy who helped to make this all possible.
An exciting new initiative called Operation 2015 has now been launched by the trust, which is designed to enable the Vulcan to fly for a further two years in 2014 and 2015. To find out more about this ground breaking initiative please visit www.vulcantothesky.org.
Many thanks once again to the people of Hastings and the surrounding area for their kind and enthusiastic support and welcome and we hope to return again in the future.
My best wishes to all of your readers.
