Super singalong

I HAD the great pleasure of helping at the 12-hour Sponsored Sing for St Michaels Hospice, at St John’s Church, Brittany Road, St Leonards on Saturday, October 20.

Thirteen choirs sang their socks off throughout the day and a massed choir and orchestra joined together for the grand finale which was magnificent, filling St John’s lofty rafters with a quite incredible sound.

There was an eclectic mix of music from the choirs and energy in abundance. They had obviously worked hard for the event, not only with their singing but gathering their sponsors.

The audience were clearly enjoying all the performances, which was shown in their generosity, as they were leaving.

One elderly gentleman touched my heart when he insisted on putting notes into each of the three collection buckets on his way out.

Thank you very much to the choirs that took part and the members of the orchestra who played in the evening.

Thank you to Jamie and Julia who organised the event, along with Marcia.

I look forward to hearing the total amount raised from this most enjoyable event.
