Starving would have loved these loaves

CONGRATULATIONS to the students of Sussex Coast College for their laudable efforts and ingenuity in producing their Queen on Toast exhibition celebrating our monarch’s Jubilee.

It seems rather excessive and perhaps a little thoughtless that the production of this exhibition has destroyed so much food, some 420 loaves of bread. Many will surely feel that this art-based project should have been managed more thoughtfully.

I am not sure that Her Majesty would be flattered in the knowledge of her image being transposed onto so much food that has been rendered inedible.

This is a sobering reminder of how comfortable we must be when we can spoil so much food while others in our world, many of them children, are literally starving.
