Rubbish complaints fall on deaf ears

I HAVE every sympathy with La Verne Preston in her complaint about the re-cycling bins in West St Leonards.

For 13 years I have lived with them outside my kitchen window.

I sent many letters and made numerous phone calls to Hastings Borough Council in this time but they were never moved despite all my complaints about the fly-tipping and noise. The glass bins were regularly emptied at 6am on Monday morning.

The reason that they were finallly moved was because T K Maxx now owns the car park, and having spoken to the management company M J Mapp, I discovered that even it has trouble with the council in removing the bins. Thankfully it has succeeded.

I do agree that the bins should be sited away from residential areas, but once the council has decided on a project it never consults the residents, just look at Azur and the Jerwood.
