RSPCA cruelty line deals with all animals

REFERRING to the Observer’s article, RSPCA Helps Gulls (May 20), about the ‘seagull man of Hastings’, Tim McKenzie, we need to point out that some of the information published about the RSPCA was inaccurate.

The RSPCA cruelty line, 0300 123 4999, is a 24-hour number, and members of the public can report mistreated, neglected, injured or distressed animals at any time.

Calls are answered and passed to our network of inspectors, or our advice staff, so that they can be dealt with efficiently and promptly.

The RSPCA cruelty line took more than 1.1 million calls last year, that is around 20,000 calls a day, and the RSPCA investigated almost 160,000 complaints of cruelty in 2010.
