Let me start by saying the refugee crisis is terrible.
What is happening in the world is madness but it is not our fault.
We cannot as Bob Geldof says ‘Feed the world’.
Let’s be truthful and put our own house in order.
It is all very well for our local MP to say we must welcome the refugees but in our small town we have people sleeping rough and living in camper vans.
We can’t all claim for our council tax from the public purse as our MP apparently can.
Our national health is collapsing, our roads and infrastructure are failing.
Every bit of space in Hastings and Bexhill is being built on.
Pensioners are finding it hard to make ends meet on a fixed income and many are forced to work on much later than the retirement age.
How about putting the people of this country first for a change?
After all charity begins at home – or so they say.
