I CONGRATULATE Ms Theresa Phillips on her determination to make Hastings Academy a success.
The refusal of accepting low standards even with uniforms sets the correct tone with our local youngsters.
Pupils were previously let down by much of our secondary school system in the area and change is urgently needed.
Our pupils need to learn to respect school rules just as they would have to with an employer.
It provides them with a vital skill set that has been lacking, resulting in Hastings having had some of the worst schooling in the country.
I do hope that those parents complaining will take it on the chin and support their children in complying with the rules as it would be sad to see the kids set up to fail by those who should do everything to support them.
