Pre-post-erous signage

IN recent weeks new 5ft posts have appeared in Hastings Country Park near North Seat.

There are eight symbols, each indicating an activity that is not permitted. Seven of these are no camping, no cycling, no dog fouling, no fires, no barbeques, no horse riding, and no motorcycling.

Although each prohibition of itself makes a certain amount of sense, the overall impression is that the posts were erected by killjoys. The horse riding symbol even appeared on a post by a bridleway, and had to be chiselled off.

There is one more symbol, second from the bottom, which I cannot decipher.

My best guess is that sundials on springs are not permitted, or possibly swimming is not allowed in a field 200 feet above sea level. Can any reader please enlighten me as to its intended meaning?
