May I, via your letters page, make a personal appeal for generous support during this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Hastings and St Leonards Branch of the Royal British Legion are conducting the Poppy Appeal for 2014 from 42, Queens Road (next door but one from Halfords) from 9am to 4pm daily.
If anyone has any spare time during the next two weeks, they will be very welcome as more volunteers required to sell poppies. Please contact Eve Martin on 07988 171265.
Volunteers will be selling poppies throughout Hastings and St Leonards over the next few weeks, with all the money raised going to support serving and ex-servicemen and women and their dependents in a variety of ways.
On Saturday, November 1, The Royal British Legion will be holding a short service to mark the opening of The Garden of Remembrance. This will take place at the War Memorial in Alexandra Park at 11am. Members of the public are welcome.
The borough’s annual remembrance service will take place at the War Memorial in Alexandra Park on Sunday, November 9 at 11am.
In the evening, a service and parade of standard bearers will form part of the Festival of Remembrance at the White Rock Theatre from 7pm.
On Tuesday, November 11 at 11am a two-minute silence will be held in Priory Meadow Shopping Centre.
