I WRITE to highlight an apparent inconsistency of approach and practice by Hastings Borough Council when it comes to restricting noise nuisance in the Old Town.
On Saturday, August 4, music blasted out all afternoon and late in to the evening from the council’s Open Space in the Stade area of the Old Town. The noise was so loud that the so-called music could be heard clearly from inside my Hastings Wall maisonette even with the windows closed.
What I think is so unfair is that other clubs and pubs in the Old Town are constantly being warned and threatened with the possibility of their licence being taken away when at the same time it would seem that anything goes when it comes to a council-controlled venue.
All we are asking for is a level playing field and the council should agree to a licensing policy of what is good for one is good for all.
