WHAT splendid front-page news of the £750,000 Pier Fund boost from the coastal communities fund.
During the past week there has been much reporting in the national press of the popularity of the original Bayeux tapestry which depicts the 1066 story of the Battle of Hastings. Wherever it is on display, it attracts huge crowds of visitors annually.
So, courtesy of your columns, I should like to ask might not the newly refurbished pier be just the place to display the wonderful Hastings Embroidery (commissioned in 1966 to celebrate our connection with arguably the most famous date in our history)?
Surely it too could be a great visitor attraction for our town and should be brought out of its hiding place to do just that?
