Opera ignored

COULD I ask you to draw the attention of your readers to the under-publicised cultural events at Hastings Odeon?

Last Saturday we had the immense pleasure of seeing Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito beamed direct from the Met Opera in New York, giving us the chance to see world-class singers in a fine production.

But there were only 13 of us at the event. The Odeon + Culture programme includes transmissions of opera and ballet from Covent Garden and drama from the National Theatre but if it’s to continue they need people to attend.

It does not augur well for the St Mary-in-the-Castle proposals if the Hastings population does not support what already exists.

Details can be found on the Odeon website. Verdi’s Ballo in Maschera is on this Saturday and Aida the following week.
