It’s good to see that so many young pianists around the world are preparing for the Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition.
But they all seem to be practising music which is around two centuries old.
Surely there is enough later music in which they could display their talents instead of this ancient repertoire which has been done so many times?
Also, as Hastings is the focus of the competition, it would be good if the work of local composers were included among the concertos.
There are several eminent composers living in Hastings and St Leonards whose work would offer an excellent opportunity for young players to show what they can do.
I hope that the organisers will think about this for the future.
