Lions’ major fundraiser touches so many lives

MAY I, through the Observer, thank all the good people of Hastings who offered such fantastic support to the 28th Hastings Half-Marathon organised by Hastings Lions?

This event touches practically every family in the town.

There are the local runners, the sponsors, the voluntary services and of course the supporters that line the route on the day.

In addition there are those that directly benefit from the event, those people who may have fallen on hard times for whom a grant from the Lions can ease their way. There are those that benefit indirectly, through the many charities in the town that receive support from the Lions.

Last year the Lions distributed more than £50,000 to local good causes, much of it raised at the Half-Marathon.

May I therefore say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone involved. Your efforts affect the lives of many people in Hastings and St Leonards and without you many vital services would be lost.

See you all next year on Sunday, March 24.
