I AM deeply concerned that the Jerwood Gallery has been imposed on Hastings.
Historically, Hastings is noted for its fishing fleet with its quaint huts and also its candy floss, kiss-me-quick hats, bingo, fish and chips and amusement arcades with a background of quaint little streets with quirky shops.
The candy floss/amusement arcade image is not my cup of tea, however, this is what works for Hastings.
Our council has seen fit to take away the coach park which facilitated the arrival of many who supported the amusement arcades to build the Jerwood.
This will undoubtedly have an adverse effect on many local businesses of long standing.
Jerwood Gallery yes, but not in Hastings. To use the old adage, you can’t polish a turd.
