Inaccurate to claim MP trounced opposition

THE Observer last week described Amber Rudd as having ‘trounced’ Michael Foster at the last election.

As I recall, Rudd’s majority was about 2,000 votes, hardly a ‘trouncing’. It is worth pointing out that if only a third of the misguided souls who thought they were voting Lib Dem had voted Labour, Hastings would have retained its locally born and bred Labour MP.

Perhaps next time it will be Sarah Owen who does the ‘trouncing’. I hope so.
