Half Marathon was a triumph

ON behalf of Hastings Runners may I congratulate the Hastings Lions, their many helpers and the people of Hastings for a fantastic 27th Hastings Half Marathon.

There were well over 100 Hastings runners participating in this Hastings flagship event and many others assisting by marshalling, finish stewarding and support. Each and every one of them and very many visitors to the town seemed to agree that it was possibly the best ever Hastings Half Marathon. Having said that, they’ve all been terrific.

Congratulations to the people of Hastings who throughout the course again provided the most magnificent support – even on Queensway the space between the gathered crowds of support seemed less than on previous years.

The lift and encouragement issuing from that support means such a lot to the runners, be they local or from afar. Thank you all.

Hastings is the unofficial capital of running for all in the south east. Still to come in 2011 is the Hastings Runners 1066 Relay, Pevensey to Rye (May 8), the Keith Chandler Memorial Hastings five-mile seafront race (May 15), and as part of Hastings Week in October the 1,066 East Hill Steps Race.

If you wish to join us in these events then visit www.hastingsrunners.org.uk or contact myself on 719688.

Once again, thank you Hastings for a splendid 27th Hastings Half Marathon.
