Green spaces remain under building threat

HAVING recently added my name to a petition protesting against the proposed sale of land to the rear of Amhurst Road, descending to Lower Park Road, by Hastings Borough Council, I was amazed to read a statement in the most recent edition of About magazine.

‘Here in Hastings we are proud of our open spaces......’(on page 24) Really?

The land in question is a unspoilt haven for fauna and flora in an increasingly crowded town. These pockets of green in the town are the reason we chose to live here.

Pieces of green seem to be constantly under the threat of development. In fact, we had not lived here long before we understood the council’s green policy.

Find a piece of ‘green’ and build on it.
