I read with interest/dismay of the late Cllr Birch.
Without talking or saying anything inflammatory of the departed, one must ask why all the pomp?
Why it deserves commemorative plaques at the Hastings People’s Pier and park, a memorial service and firework display, all paid for by , let me guess, ‘the good local council tax payers’ when if the Labour party/councillors thought so graciously they should pay for all of it, not the local council tax payers.
It is a wonder they did not request a state funeral and day off to grieve.
Shall locals just wait for local cut backs?
Don’t blame the government when expenditure like this is out of local council tax payers’ pockets.
Not only was he a councillor, he was also a director of Seaspace, a well paid job.
RIP Mr Birch.
Mrs Mr Sherwood
