WELL done the Observer for throwing its weight behind the Greenway campaign.
This proposed network of cycle/pedestrian pathways would bring health, safety, economic, environmemtal and leisure benefits to residents and ease traffic congestion.
As the Hastings Urban Bike (HUB) campaign says, every cyclist (or walker) means one less car on the roads.
Reducing local car journeys by this means is surely a more sensible use of money than throwing hugely larger sums at major road projects of dubious benefit. Hastings Borough Council appears supportive but to my knowledge there has yet to be any tangible commitment from the county council.
I encourage all readers to sign your petition to show their support for this scheme and make sure the message is clearly heard by those in power.
