Arsenal visit was a night to remember

THE recent visit of Premier Division giants Arsenal was a great success despite the score line.

A large crowd saw some future stars of the game grace the immaculate playing surface at the Pilot Field, and what better occasion for my colleague Simon Rudkins to be presented with his Groundsman of the Year award.

A lot of work went into the preparations and planning for this game and I would like to thank everyone involved for playing their part in making this a night to remember.

Thanks also to the Observer for providing help with our competition and pre-match publicity, as well as the great reports in last week’s editions.

We hope that everyone who attended enjoyed the night and naturally we hope a few will return to see future games at the Pilot Field. We will be doing something special to coincide with ‘Non-League Day’ on Saturday, September 3 when there will be no Premier Division matches that day due to internationals so watch out for details in the Observer in coming weeks.
