ON behalf of Hastings Runners I write again to express very many thanks to so many who contributed to yet another, the 28th, wonderful Hastings Half-Marathon.
Hastings Runners fielded some 140 participants, various helpers and marshals, and of course supporters, each and every one of those had tales to tell at the finish but overwhelmingly it was to record the great applause and lift, the magnificent encouragement and joy of the spectators supporting all runners around the course. They also reported how so many visiting runners were congratulating our runners on the enthusiasm and welcome afforded to all the visitors and runners by those lining the route. As ever it made us all so proud to be a Hastings Runner or indeed a Hastings runner.
The support from the spectators was matched by the excellent organisation and lead offered by race marshals, officials and helpers to all the participants on this fantastic day.
To the Lions Club of Hastings, to Eric Hardwick MBE and Lions President Ian Mantel, to the Lions’ many helpers including other charitable bodies we say thank you for your tremendous ongoing efforts in putting on such a superb Hastings showcase. A thank you from Hastings Runners, from so many visitors to the town and doubtless from so many spectators. To many who ran and perhaps many who watched, you may be thinking: I could take this further or I too would like to do this thing called running. It can be done, all ages, slow, medium or fast, all speeds, they all do it. You can do it. Give Hastings Runners a try, call me on 719688 or email email@example.com.
Finally, thanks to all from Hastings Runners for such a great day.
Chairman of Hastings Runners
