A privilege to sing Sussex by the Sea

MY grandfather, George Munn, was a very proud soldier in the Royal Sussex Regiment in the early 1900s.

His regiment adopted the song Sussex by the Sea, as their unofficial ‘nick’ march. It was written by William Ward-Higgs in 1907.

Our Community Choir consisting of four choirs including the Hastings Philharmonic Choir sang the rousing and appropriately chosen, Sussex by the Sea, along with the Hallelujah Chorus, to close the spectacular which was presented to the people of Hastings upon the arrival of the Olympic torch to our wonderful town, last Tuesday.

We were all so proud to sing these songs and loved every moment of a great day.
