A FREE programme run by the University of Brighton is encouraging the over 50s to take up university courses and learn new skills.
The Open Access to Knowledge programme (OAK) offers older people free 15-week courses based in the heart of Hastings. Starting in February 2013, students will attend the University of Brighton in Hastings for two full days a week, selecting projects with the help of their tutors, with access to all the university’s facilities.
Wendy Philcox, program assistant for OAK, said: “Why let the youngsters have all the fun when it comes to learning skills and meeting new people? Many people over 50 have never had the opportunity to experience studying in a higher educational environment.”
