TWO yobs have been caught on CCTV in the early hours smashing around £4,000 worth of windows at a community centre.
The mindless vandalism took place at West Hill Community Centre in Croft Road around 2am today.
The two culprits aged in their late teens are seen walking around the building. One is looking through a window while holding a suspected metal bar.
They smashed 15 double glazes windows in total causing between £3,000 and £4,000 worth of damage.
The building was insured and a planned children’s birthday party will still go ahead tomorrow (SAT).
Centre treasurer, David Hobden, said: “It’s just wanton, mindless vandalism.
“I can’t understand why anyone would want to do this kind of thing. I could see them on the CCTV looking a bit wobbly as they approach the building. Maybe they were drunk.
“One of them pressed his face up against the window and seemed to be holding what looked like an iron bar. Hopefully the police will be able to identify him quickly and they can be caught.
“We will have to replace all the windows now but thankfully we are insured.
“I’ve been here for about 12 years and nothing like this has happened before.
“It won’t stop our birthday party going ahead tomorrow though.”
