A big clean-up of a Bognor Regis close has been staged by its residents.

They cleared Wadhurst Close of its overgrown bushes and shrubs as well as the litter which had gathered in them.

The several hours of work on Saturday were intended to be the start of a campaign to improve conditions in the area.

One of the day’s organisers, Christine Hall, said during the event: “I’m happy with the way things are going when you consider what the close was like when we started.

“We’ve done a lot in the first two hours and I hope the area will be mostly cleared by the time we have finished.

“We are following the clean-up with what we intend to be the first meeting of a new residents’ association to get some lasting change in the close.

“We want to make the road better to live in, which will make it a nicer area and increase the value of our houses.”

The meeting will take place at 7pm next Tuesday in the youth club and community centre on Westloats Lane.
