Wow, what a start to the Wonky WI’s first meeting of the year. Ginny and Caro of ‘Wild at Heart’ took us along their journey into foraging, showing us how we can make delicious dishes from food that grows wild.
They illustrated it with tasters of nettle quiche, blackberry and apple crumble cake and Kentish cobnut and ginger cake. It was an interesting talk backed up with an excellent powerpoint presentation. Afterwards we could sample and buy their jams and chutneys and look at or buy their beautiful cookery book.
It was a great start to the year and will be followed in February by our own Wonky member Sherry Clark giving us a workshop on Happiness, something we all need.
So, ladies if you are looking for something to join why not try the Wonky WI? We meet on the first Tuesday of the month at Frimley 64 London Road (opposite the vets) from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. We have a mixed age range and pride ourselves on being open to all women looking to have fun, enjoy the company of other women, help the local community and raise money for local charities.
Last year we gave more than £3,000 to our chosen charities Dragonflies and Active Arts. Check us out on Facebook and www.wonkywi.com. You can attend three meetings for free so why not come along be inspired, learn new skills, make friends and enjoy. We look forward to welcoming you on Tuesday, February 3 at Frimley House 7.30pm for a workshop on Happiness.
